Quadratic Equations

10th Standard Mathematics (CBSE)

A quadratic equation is a second-degree polynomial equation of the form \( ax^2 + bx + c = 0 \), where \( a \), \( b \), and \( c \) are constants and \( a \neq 0 \). The solutions to this equation are called the roots, which can be found using the quadratic formula \( x = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a} \). Quadratic equations can have two, one, or no real roots, depending on the discriminant \( D = b^2 - 4ac \). They are widely used in various mathematical and real-world applications.
